Waterfalls- Hedge Creek Falls

Hedge creek waterfalls Dunsmuir

Once, I took a road trip from San Diego to Portland mostly on I-5. On the way there are many global cities like, San Diego, Los Angeles and San Francisco. But, what interested me were numerous small lesser known places ... One of them is Dunsmuir in northern California. This place is blessed with small yet wonderful waterfalls and friendly people. One of the waterfalls is Hedge Creek waterfalls. Very close to the freeway exit. A short hike downhill leads to this falls.

There is a legend that a thief hid behind the waterfalls. There is a nice cave behind and hence, he might have done so. It was peak dogwood bloom time and I was amazed to see those off-white and pink flowers at the trailhead. I was here early morning for good light and I was surprised to see hikers even at that time!

I took few pictures and rested on one of those rocks. I finished my breakfast listening to the music of the flowing water and chirping of birds. Morning cool breeze was very refreshing, it brought some damp chill with it. I sat there watching that white falling water ... occasionally a hiker-couple would wish me a very good morning before moving away. I left the place reluctantly ...

  5. Lovely picture -- and that part of California is wonderful! It is not at all what most people think of when they think of CA...and we loved it there. When we lived in Oregon, we often drove down the coast that way.
