Wildlife- Croc in the pool

Everglade National Park Crocodile Florida

I love this picture. The clear water, one can even see the bottom. And those tiny floating leaves! Look at the shadow of the croc! But, with that muted green all around lacks a bit of color. Ask me again ... I love the picture :)

I took this picture at Everglades National Park, Florida

  1. Cool shot of the croc! Are they rare to see in Florida? I knew they had alligators there.

  2. Nice shot Kusum. Is it a pond exclusively for croc??

    1. Thanks Anu. No, it is a pond in the national park premises where this one was resting. Nothing is exclusive, its the animals wish to be there or not, they freely roam around!

  5. A shiver just went down my spine. That's how good that picture is.
This IS super clear water. Isn't that the croc's shadow down there?

    1. Thanks Laura. Yeah, that silver shine isolates the reptile from its surroundings.

  10. FUN! What a great shot, and great experience to see this guy (or lady gator.)
I've been posting on a past trip to Louisiana, which was a great trip - but one thing lacking for us was the gators.. While they're normally just about everywhere, they were dormant while we were there. So I've yet to see one in the wild, and live vicariously through photos like yours!

    1. Thanks Amanda. Yeah, I have heard about the marshes of Luisiana, haven't happened to visit. I had planned but, one of the acquaintances badly ditched me then :) Winter is the best time to go gator viewing when the water level is low and it is cold.

  16. I can see how well the crocodile blends in with the water so that he is camouflaged!

    1. Hmmm, s/he is ... but, under the hot sun he must have been cooling him/herself off!
