Colorful Skies- Sky over Hawaii's devastated land

Hawaii skywatch at Chain of craters road

The tropical paradise and everyone's dream destination- Hawaii!! Beautiful beaches, live volcanoes , rain forests and heavy rain. Also acres of devastated land of ash and rocks! One afternoon when it was not raining I drove on this Chain-of-craters road only to see the bald, black land with no shade and lots of sulphur dioxide emission.

Black everywhere! It was still beautiful in its own way! I clicked this picture when I saw afternoon clouds accumulating in the sky for a heavy downpour in the later hours. I couldn't go much further as the emission levels were high!

  3. I've only been to Oahu, but I did see as we flew in for a landing the active lava flows...it's stunning at night with the hot orange-red glow.
    Your image is stunning.

  5. The clouds are beautiful! I can imagine what you mean - I've seen a burnt forest - it was depressing, but yet it has its own beauty! Thanks for visiting my blog earlier:)

    1. There was no one because of the emission. Otherwise too, there was simple acres of devastation and nothing else!
