My trip to Scotland

Typical scene of Highlands Scotland
Typical scene- Highlands, Scotland

I had been to Scotland few years ago and happened to visit again recently which refreshed my memories all over again. But, never got a chance to blog about my experiences in the country abundant in history, castles and ruins. The history and legends make the wild beauty of the highlands and the islands of Scotland more special.

I first landed in the beautiful capital city of Scotland- Edinburgh. It first made me feel like a time travel back to medieval era! After walking up and down the hills, window shopping on Princess Street I booked a package tour towards the west as far as Isle of Skye. After coming back I wandered around on my own on the streets of Sterling, Perth and Dundee. Wallace Monument and the sail ship Discovery got imprinted in my memory forever. Finally booked another package tour towards north to Highlands and as far up to Orkney Islands. I was amazed to see the World Heritage Sites, cairns and stone henge. Only thing I couldn't do was climbing to the summit of Ben Navis. Well, there is always next time! Look forward to some stories and attractions from Scotland soon.

After visiting most of the castles, war museums, national museums and battle fields ... the only line that I remember is ... the closing words of declaration of freedom by Robert The Bruce :

"It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honors that we fight, but for freedom, and for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself"

  1. I'm curious about Scotland and since I'm fond of castles (want to see a real European castle) this country is in my wish list.

  7. Scotland is a super country - I used to go nearly every year - note it is Stirling not Sterling (that's the currency) and Ben Nevis not Navis
