Monarch Butterfly in Pacific Grove

Its November and time for going Butterfly Watching! Well, Monarch butterfly watching in Monterey, California! I am posting the pictures of butterflies which I took in the past years! You can get much info about this most familiar North American butterfly in Wiki. But, the amazing thing is that these tiny delicate living beings migrate from Canada to Mexico to escape harsh winter! Do they live that long??!!

Cities- Key West, Home of the Sunset!

Key West Florida

Key West, FL is the southernmost key among the Florida Keys, it is also southernmost city of Continental USA just 90-miles away from Cuba! Original Spanish name of this beautiful place is Cayo Hueso which means Island of bones! Interesting huh? It seems the island was used as a burial ground by the Native Americans, bones were seen scattered around then! Now, it is a beautiful city with high density of tourists where you pay big amount for parking!

Butterflies- Butterflies of Florida

Bees sip honey from flowers and hum their thanks when they leave. The gaudy butterfly is sure that the flowers owe thanks to him - Rabindranath Tagore
When butterflies fly by they delight our souls. God must have been a very happy person the day he created them :) So very light, colorful and so volatile and restless. Unknowingly the eyes start following them ... During my visit to Key West, Florida I shot many butterfly photos. And I thought of adding some beautiful quotes by great people on these wonderful creatures.

Butterfly- Tiger Longwing

Decide whether the butterfly is telling the truth when it says "I am nasty to eat"- Internet
Do you think this beauty is poisonous? Orange Tiger Longwing (Heliconius hecale) is one of the beautiful and busy butterflies. These are native to Central America and have longer life than usual 2-3 weeks. Like other Longwings they digest pollens to gain proteins for longer life! They are poisonous and hence predators leave them alone- another reason for longer life!
