Why should you visit Madhya Pradesh?

Madhya Pradesh- Central India ... I do not have any reason to why I chose to visit Madhya Pradesh over any other state of India. It was on an impulse ... I was in Vadodara, Gujarat and I booked a train ticket to Indore because it was available! As I went on visiting few of the numerous interesting places of Madhya Pradesh I realized how right my decision was!!

Here is why one should visit Madhya Pradesh ...

History and Architecture : Madhya Pradesh is a Celebration in stone, that is what they say.  There lies a magic in intricately carved sand stone temples of Khajuraho that is mesmerizing. The Islamic architecture in Mandu is popular as Monsoon Magic! Proud fortresses of Madhya Pradesh are standing proof of its glorious past. Jain sculptures on the faces of cliffs, tribal paintings deep inside the forests give Madhya Pradesh a mysterious touch. Popular destinations apart, there are numerous other amazing places along off the beaten tracks!

Natural Beauty and Diverse Landscape: Pachmarhi is the best example of the natural beauty of Satpura range. The green beauty of hills and valleys ornate with gorgeous waterfalls is beyond words. The vast Chambal valley has its own attraction and fascinating notorious past. Marble Rocks at Bedaghat and a boat ride over Holy Narmada can be unforgettable. The holy rivers, waterfalls and the rocks make the natural beauty of the state unparalleled.

National Parks and Wildlife : Madhya Pradesh is The Tiger-land of India. With four major National Parks and few other Tiger Reserves, Madhya Pradesh becomes a must visit for wildlife lovers. Kanha National Park is one of the places where the Hard-ground Barasinga are found. The forests are bustling with spotted deers, antelopes, gaurs and wild boars. Birds are abundant in these forests. Not only the tigers, Chambal River has gharials and gangetic dolphins sight of which is unbelievable.

Pilgrimage: Madhya Pradesh has many major Hindu, Jain, Buddhist and Islamic pilgrim centers. Ujjain is one of the seven sacred cities and Kamadagiri in Chitrakoot was abode of Lord Rama during his exile.

Colorful culture and food cannot be left out! Chanderi and Maheshwari silks are ever popular! Daal-bafla-ladoo, distinct chat-items and khoya jalebis with rabdi are lip-smacking!

People of Madhya Pradesh are very simple, friendly and welcoming in their own way. May look little rough outside they really are very helping in nature.

Madhya Pradesh Tourism provides great accommodations, forests resorts, great food  and facilities. In my experience MPT-hotels are very good and worth all the money. Forest Department also provides budget accommodations and food options at National Parks. The tour guide (paperback) of Madhya Pradesh Tourism (Rs. 90) is good, has comprehensive details of all the tourist places and hotel listings for all budgets. Ask for a MP tourist map which is free!!

In my opinion, there is no exaggeration in MP ajab hai ... sab se gazab hai ...

Well, this is true with most of the states of India :) But, every state has its own beauty and so is Madhya Pradesh!

  13. I love Madhya Pradesh - I have visited Kanha once & Bandhavgarh three times. This has given me a good opportunity to interact with the simple village folk of Madhya Pradesh. The thing that stands out about them is their sweet and harmless sense of humour. Whenever I have got to observe the friendly banter of the guides and drivers of Bandhavgarh, I have laughed for days, constantly reminding myself of the witticisms and the funny retorts that were thrown around. They all have a naturally humourous way of talking - a slow and articulate speech combined with a straight face - that has you in splits.
