That small opening is the entrance of Blue Grotto |
Do you see that blue?! The picture is not edited for color saturation! It is real! In the earlier post I mentioned that I had taken a boat ride around the Island of Capri, it included a peek into the popular Blue Grotto for few extra euros. And it was worth all the money! Sea caves are not new to me, I had rowed into few sea caves earlier in my life, but this one was wonderful! The blue color is due to the underwater light source, essentially an underwater sea cave!
Boat traffic outside the grotto |
The entrance to the cave is just enough to pass a row boat which holds 3 passengers and a row-man. We have to bend inside the boat so that we don't hurt our heads. That hole is one source of light for the cave. And the other one which is much larger, is little below the entrance hole. The light from the underwater hole reflects through the water and gives that amazing effect!
Traffic inside the grotto |
But, there is so much of boat traffic inside as well as outside the cave. I was waiting for my turn in the row boat for about one-and-a-half hours under the hot sun for that few minutes inside the cave! I don't think there is another way to enjoy the cave. Well, amazing nature huh?
