Green Heron (Butorides virescens) is relatively small herons in north and central America. The color of these birds gets so camouflaged with the surroundings and they go unnoticed. Initially I thought it was just a log of wood and then saw the bird moving. These herons are smart, they use insects as bait to lure fish it seems!
I took this picture in Everglades National Park, Florida. The Flamingo area of this park is bustling with different species herons, anhinga, egrets and of course gators :)

DeleteI adore green herons and of course we have seen them in the Everglades and elsewhere even nearer our Florida home...but I never get tired of seeing them; your photo is great, with the reflection...a great advertisement for the beauties of this State!
