Birds- Green Heron from Florida

Green Heron (Butorides virescens) is relatively small herons in north and central America. The color of these birds gets so camouflaged with the surroundings and they go unnoticed. Initially I thought it was just a log of wood and then saw the bird moving. These herons are smart, they use insects as bait to lure fish it seems!

I took this picture in Everglades National Park, Florida. The Flamingo area of this park is bustling with different species herons, anhinga, egrets and of course gators :)

  2. Great shot of the Green Heron. I thought it was neat that the birds along the trails in the Everglades did not spook easily. Providing great photo opportunities.
