Why specific destinations for Honeymoon?

Long ago my sister got married. Both she and my brother-in-law were very much excited about their honeymoon in Kashmir. And they came back with the same excitement to reach their home town :) I hear people going to Kodaikanal, Ooty, Pachmarhi, Kullu-Manali, Shimla, Goa, Europe, Hawaii and Alaska for their honeymoon. I wonder why those specific destinations!

Recently I went backpacking in India and it became kind of a pilgrimage! All along the journey I met tons of strangers, honeymooners were part of them. I met a couple in Puri, Orissa. Well, I thought what are they doing here in a pilgrimage center! I asked them curiously. Their answer was ... Yes! They visited the famous Jagannatha temple for the good start of their married life, then they are enjoying the beautiful beach and the sunsets. They went on excursions to Konark and birding at Chilika lake. They were spending more time at Chilika lake so that they could get much secluded and clean beaches. Sounded great to me.

Why do people go to the same old places? Doing same things as everyone does? Why not try something new? Something that is unique and matches their own mindset. Well, there are many websites and online travel agencies who provide great options for different types of tours, themes with customized itineraries. Some interesting links for travel in Singapore- Honeymoon in Singapore and Singapore Adventure Holiday. Looks cool!

Happy Valentine's Day!!

  1. Agree with you. Should try something totally unconventional for a change - might turn out to be quite incredulous, incredibly more romantic and exciting. Where were you for so long?Welcome back.

  3. Singapore may be right for many people; but on the other hand, it may also be too busy for others. Honeymooners would like to spend time with each other's company I would think. Welcome back. Your posts have been missed.

  4. I think that honeymoon should be spent in a special place indeed. A place you've never seen before. That way you will have the chance to be amazed by it. Of course some online research about the place is recommended but not too much. You don't want to ruin your trip do you?

  6. My husband(and boyfriend of five years before that) and I went on a 20 day honeymoon.. :P We did three countries - England, France and Italy... it was a budget trip, but we planned everything by ourselves and we enjoyed it SO MUCH! I am sure a package tour or a cliched trip can never be so memorable.
