Hawaii is synonymous with beaches. If you go by guidebooks, finding a beach with no crowd is a challenge :) There are places which are beautiful and not crowded. The key is- avoid the beaches that are mentioned in the guidebooks or recommended on internet.

Colorful Skies- Glorious sunset at Pfeiffer Beach, California
Pfeiffer Beach on southern California Coast is one place where the golden light from heavens descends down to the Earth through a sea arch! Well, in this picture there is no arch but you see that golden light reflected on the wet sand! I had taken this picture couple of years ago and noticed it only today!

Hawaii- More from Big Island!
Big Island of Hawaii is popular for its most active volcano Kilauea. But, there are many other places one could enjoy this island's volcanic beauty. As any other island it has numerous beaches on the western coast and waterfalls on the wind and rain swept eastern coast. If you take a drive along the perimeter of the island numerous viewpoints await you.

Colorful Skies- Blue sky at Charley Young beach, Maui

In Maui I took an accommodation in Kehei on the western coast for sunshine. To have a peaceful stroll on the Charlie Young beach morning and evening. And it was a perfect place. Not so over crowded and not away from the city life, with beautiful views of blue sky, coconut trees and volcanic rocks! It was lovely. Don't you agree?

Colorful Skies- Sunset at Black Sand beach, Maui

After a day long rain at the eastern cost I thought of heading west for some sunshine. I reached the Lahaina coast just after sunset. But, still there was that after glow. The black volcanic rocks were glowing by that golden light. Tough it lasted for a few moments it was a lovely sight.

Colorful Skies- Sunset at Natural Bridges
Santa Cruz, California has many beautiful beaches. One of them is Natural Bridges state beach. It is a great picnic spot. Nice beach, tide pools monarch butterfly sanctuary are the attractions. One evening I waited for sunset and got this shot. Natural Bridges SB was one of the retreats for me when there was no group event organized during weekends. Every time I could get a beautiful sunset picture. This evening the colorful rays of the sun were having a show even long after sunset! Beautiful huh?

Colorful Skies- Playtime
I was at Natural Bridges State Beach in Santa Cruz, California. It is a great picnic spot and right for families. The tide pools here are children's favorite. At low tide one could see huge starfish. That evening I had decided I wouldn't worry about sunset pictures. I wanted to just sit, relax and watch kids playing ...

Colorful Skies- Dramatic Sunset at Natural Bridges

I have mentioned in earlier posts that beaches in Santa Cruz were my favorites. Natural Bridges State Beach is one of the most beautiful! Once, there was an explosion of red-orange colors during sunset which made the whole landscape very dramatic. In my opinion, the sailing boat and the lighthouse in the distant land add to the beauty. I love the horizontal pattern in the sky!

Colorful skies- Sunset at Black Sand Beach, Maui

This picture looks like a painting to me. A beach with a tree and the tree is not a coconut tree! Too much color difference between the sky and some clouds, tree and grass are too green. Like some screen-setting for Eastman Color movie :) Well, this is a real beach photograph which I took on Lahaina black sand beach, Maui.
